Whenever I get amazing pieces like this #GeorgeNakashima cabinet into the studio it reminds me why I do what I do. The Nakashima Woodworkers studio refinished this piece beautifully and its on its way to its new home soon. Can’t get enough of this grain! It was only a move 5 minutes away to a new space but it has taken me a month to get here. Almost ready to be back in biz!
Palm Springs, Abernathy House by William F Cody, 1962. The outdoor areas updated in 2012. The first image is looking back on the residence while the others are details of the outdoor living space near the pool. An inspiration to see this home during Modernism Week.
And the process begins. This guy was one of the last Rosewoods before they switched to Palisander. About to go for it’s refresh before being shipped.
For all the Karl Springer fans out there you will recognize these stands and what size piece of glass they attach to. It is also the reason why I am so tired today.
Remembering Florence Knoll. Her designs were one of the reasons I started collecting mid-century and eventually became a furniture dealer. Tapio Wirkkala for Venini. A newer version (2004) of this incalmo technique vase. One of my favorites - now available. Any other Wirkkala fans out there? What’s your favorite?
Odelberg Olsen task chair for Knoll. This one is c. 1960s from the label, such cool patina, wear and tear and super comfortable. It’s interesting to see the design changes over the years - would love to hear more from any of my Knoll experts!
